I am that kind of a girl that loves to be a little expressive or maybe I should say a bit creative. At the same time, I am not the very techy minded one of the bunch. When I get an idea of what to do, I look for tools that will make my life a lot easier. this is because I hate pulling my hair out trying to figure out how a techy gadget or tool work. And again I love the quality.

So this is what I do, I do my due diligence of finding the right tool; good and easy to use tools, that I don’t need an Engineering degree to understand. And so life is fun, life is easy, I do my things, I love it, I move on…

Therefore, if you love the easy route and you want to achieve some of my kinds of goals like creating your own podcast, video series, books, websites, online courses, I have listed my own tools below.

Starting Your Own Podcast?

You will need:

Blue Yeti Mic

The is the best on Amazon according to my research, I actually started recording with my phone and the earbuds that come with it and result was great. I later for the Rode VideoMic Me (about $74 on Amazon). Didn’t get good results from this. It used to add some static sound to my recordings but that stopped whenever I mounted the phone on a tripod. But for the price, I will advise you don’t go this route. Add some money and get the Blue Yeti (About 150 on Amazon). It’s good for interviews and more. 

iPhone

I mean, you already have this. But if you don’t, it’s better to get the ones with more space. When dealing with audio files you will need more space. I was recording my podcast episodes on Opinion, the app still exists but they no longer offer podcast hosting. It was a good help and push to start out for me. Very easy. I still record with Opinion sometimes when I am on the road and not able to set up my computer and mic. And you will hardly know the difference. I have done video recordings with my phone many times.

MacBook Air

Ok, again you can use your computer but since Apple products are known for the ease with which you can use them, I love my Mac for that. It comes with an audio editing software called Garageband. That’s what I use now. I attach my Blue Yeti to it and record. I edit and upload. That’s it. Easy. Also has the iMovie app that I use for video editing. I have used my MacBook to do video recording as well.

 

Podbean Podcast Hosting

So one day I was reading to upload a new episode when I realized Opinion already had a problem and was closing. Oh, my I almost freaked out. Thank God for my Techy Hubby, Ade. He saved the day and guided me to pay for membership with Podbean and move all my files over to the new hosting platform. With my link, you actually get 1 month for free. However, don’t sign up until you are actually ready. Or you will waste your free month.

Ecamm: I use this to record interviews over the phone, skype, facetime and for facebook live. Very useful tools and affordable too.

Reading is something I always love to do, however, I hardly find time to do as much as I would have loved. Well, until I found Blinkist.

Graphic & eBook Designing

Designrr: This tool helps me to turn my notes or post into ebooks. Very fast and easy. And I can easily add links to the ebooks. The program is usually about $97 a month but with my code, you get to pay a one time fee of $27. Though they may want you to get more, I didn’t. I am fine with what I have.

 

 

Canva: This app helps to create media files for social media. I use it to write text on images. I also use these other App on my phone called, Phonto. They are both cool.

Money

Tangerine. I decided to add Tangerine to the list. Since I left Investors Group, I have found this banking app great because I can connect this app to my other bank accounts and automatically send money to my Tangerine Savings Account. Easy peazy lemon squeezy 😉 (my boys say that all the time) Oh, if you use my code when you open as the person that recommended you, each of us will get $50. Not bad, right? Do it! Paypal: A PayPal account is very vital for online stuff. I integrate Paypal to my website to process credit card payments from clients. It’s secure and easy to use. I also get paid via Paypal from some companies that I have partnered with. If you don’t have PayPal, get it now. It’s free.

Websites, Online courses & Email Marketing:

Aweber I love to reach out to my readers at least once a week but I don’t have the time to email everyone one by one. So I hired the help of Aweber to do the job for me. That way my readers can get a personalized email from me as soon as there is a new post or podcast or just an announcement.

Bluehost 

If you don’t already have a website, you may need one. It’s a bit complicated but you will need web hosting and domain name. Bluehost has this promo going on now for less than $4 a month. Good deal. Though I prefer that you take the annual deal and lock the price in for as long as you can. 2 years or 3. That way you are not going to be worrying about it in a year.

Teachables: 

I’m a fan of Teachable Inc.. Great for creating online courses. Check them out!

LIghtings for Video

DSLR Camera:

The truth is that I hardly use this. Though it will give me better quality videos and pictures, I use my iPhone better because it’s easier to upload your work online. However, If you want it, this is what I have. And this combo here has may other stuff included. I can’t wait to have a dedicated studio and this will be put to use more.

Tripod

You will need a mini tripod to record on your iPhone or get the attachment to mount your phone on. And remote shitter to start your videos remotely.
