Master Your Mind #LJ089

master your mind photo Imagine hiring an assistant and not showing them what you want them to do, they just do whatever they feel like. You won’t do that right? So you also have to pay attention to what’s going on in your mind in order to be able to master your mind. In the episode, I share with you how to make sure that your mind is working for you as an effective worker.

Here is what you need to do in order to master your mind:

  1. Picture the Goal you want to achieve for this year with regards to your purpose? Bigger/higher level in your business?
  2. Use your imagination work for you. don’t just allow it to run wild
  3. Focus on your goals during your down time.
  4. Research more on how to see it happen
  5. Work hard on your idea.

It’s Actually Not a Secret

I spent the weekend with some of my most favorite people on the planet at the Life Group Leaders Retreat for Overcomers Assembly. One of my mentees and acquired younger sister accused me during the BBQ after that I don’t really share what I do enough and another lady agreed with her. My response to them was “No!, that’s not true”. But on a second thought after reading this scripture this morning, I think their accusations may be somewhat true.

““No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a washtub or shoves it under the bed. No, you set it up on a lampstand so those who enter the room can see their way. We’re not keeping secrets; we’re telling them. We’re not hiding things; we’re bringing everything out into the open. So be careful that you don’t become misers of what you hear. Generosity begets generosity. Stinginess impoverishes.”” –Luke‬ ‭8:16-18‬ ‭MSG‬‬

I didn’t mean to keep what I do as secrets, we just hardly ever get there. So here you go.

In July of 2012, I quit my financial planning job to pursue whatever God had in plans for me and my family. I actually turned down a great secured income (and good benefits) to have the freedom to design my life the way God had it planned originally.

And today, my family and I hop on the plane and go wherever God needs us. Neither being controlled by a company nor the benefits they are willing to give me. My husband and I are vocationally the founders and senior pastors at Overcomers Assembly but we both are bi-vocational pastors or should I say multi 😉 and our 2 boys are grateful for their lives.

I love to disciple believers and also coach them to focus as they embrace God’s plan for them. That’s the theme on my weekly podcast as well.

However, you may not know that I earn an amazing income, coaching those who want to turn their uniqueness and skills into a great income like I did. I work one on one with clients in my 8 weeks VIP program.

In a few days, I will be heading back with my family to Nigeria, where one of our church plants is. I can’t wait to see the amazing people there that we love dearly. I can’t wait to see the wonderful children in our free mission primary school, I can’t wait to see the teachers and everyone in general.

I am extremely grateful to God that He opened my eyes back in 2012 to elevate purpose over income.

After returning to Nigeria in a few days, I have decided to do another quick stop again in Cornwall, Ontario. I will be hosting a clarity retreat on Sept 21st & 22nd at the amazing Nav Center.

This is for you if you feel undervalued at your current position. You may or may not love your job but you are tired of feeling like there is more to your life and tired of not knowing the exact steps to take.

This is for you if you are ready to find fulfilling and meaningful work that aligns with your Christian values. This may be your opportunity to start earning a good living doing what you love.

This is not for you if you are looking for a get rich quick scheme, it’s not for you if you are not ready to take massive steps in discovering who you are and fully embrace God’s plan for you; because my program is going to take you deep into fully understanding which combination of your unique strengths, skills and weaknesses will turn you into a specialist, so that you can start earning as much as you want doing what you love.

I must also add that it took me many long years of hoping and I even tried all sorts of work from home programs while trying to figure out where a decent income would come from to support my family. However, I am glad that now it only takes my clients about 60days to find their first profitable idea; the kind that people are desperately waiting to pay them for.

If you think my support will give you the clarity, boldness, and accountability you need to launch out into your next level of Impact, send me a private message or an email to olu@olusobanjo.com

Again this is not for everyone and I have only 5 spots, so hurry!

And if this isn’t for you now, be generous, pls share it with someone you think will really appreciate this at this moment in their life.

Again the scripture is:

““No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a washtub or shoves it under the bed. No, you set it up on a lampstand so those who enter the room can see their way. We’re not keeping secrets; we’re telling them. We’re not hiding things; we’re bringing everything out into the open. So be careful that you don’t become misers of what you hear. Generosity begets generosity. Stinginess impoverishes.”” –Luke‬ ‭8:16-18‬ ‭MSG‬‬

It may be your turn to become you!

Podcast Holiday To Concentrate On Writing & More

Last year I took a break from weekly podcasting in the month of August till mid-Sept in order to ease out the stress during my family’s transition months back to Nigeria (we stay in Canada about half the year and spend the rest of the year in our mission base in Kuje, Nigeria.

This year due to my book writing process and also in order to fully commit to helping my clients on my VIP Course (for Christians finding their first profitable idea), I have decided to observe another weekly podcast break. I hope to resume to podcasting regularly in about a month or until my manuscript is done.

Despite the break, I will still try to send you some sermon I preach or something else important.

I was recently interviewed by Barb Raveling, and if you haven’t been blessed by the interview, here is it again: https://barbraveling.com/2018/08/01/breaking-free-from-people-pleasing-olu-sobanjo/

Thanks always for your support and feedback always.

My childhood friend, Dr. Sayo Olafiranye celebrated her Fabulous 40 birthday in Pittsburgh, PA this past weekend and it was a beautiful celebration and reunion.

Many of the lovely people I grew up with in Ife Nigeria, were present including some of my acquired parents.

I am grateful for great friends like Sayo, who actually is no longer a friend but a sister. I remember all our many play dates and sleepovers. Now we are all grown, with children almost as big as we are. What can I say? Thank you, Lord! Happy Birthday, Sayo dear. Many more years of God’s grace and mercies.

Thirsty? Come And Drink! #LJ075

Thirsty photoEveryone thirsts for love, for respect and for meaning in life. Jesus knew this and He calls out to you. He was promising the Holy Spirit to anyone who believes in Him. As a believer, His call for us is to come to Him with the void in our heart and drink. To surrender to His Lordship over your life. When you do; out of your heart shall flow rivers of living water.

John 7:37-39: On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given because Jesus was not yet glorified.

This is one of the messages from the recently concluded Wordfest Conference in Montreal. Listen and be blessed.

Ready To Find Fulfilling Work That Aligns With Your Christian Values?

get started now

Is your job beginning to make you feel like life is dull, boring and unsatisfying and you go to bed most nights drained and frustrated? Do you find it easy to press the snooze button; each morning wondering when it will be your turn to do what you were meant to do? Do you sometimes wish you were given the space to fully bring your uniqueness to the world?

Then its time for you to find fulfilling work that aligns with your values and showcases your unique gifts.

Your Time To Thrive is Now!

Imagine what your life would be like if you knew for sure what you are supposed to be doing right now. What if you could finally unlock what God has hidden inside you in order to shine brightly as light: a city set upon the hill that can not be hidden? How would you feel if you suddenly understood what you were designed for and start to take steps toward living a fulfilled life; doing what you love?

My name is Olu Sobanjo, I was a frustrated Christian when I wasn’t sure of what I was meant to be doing. Living to please everyone else without any sense of real fulfillment. Now I am determined to help as many Christians with the same experiences.

One on One Program

You may already know from my weekly podcast that I am working on writing a book this summer and that I want to work with 10 purpose-driven Christians. So if you are ready to find a spark that would motivate you to move to the next level: that level where you step up into God’s calling for you. If you kinda know you are here for a purpose but you sometimes feel stuck, unmotivated and less productive at work and you are

ready to do whatever it takes to find clarity; then, this is for you!

This is your chance to work one on one with me for 8 weeks. I am taking only 10 participants and though the deadline to apply is Monday, July 9th at 9 am or as soon as I have 10 qualified participants who are committed (if this comes first).

I have to be honest with you to tell you that I did not plan to offer this program yet and for some reason I didn’t think I was ready to do something this big just yet but then as I was working with my mentor, she asked me a question: If I have the answer to 'how to find one’s passion and purpose', how many people am I living suffering or worse frustrated and potentially getting a host of physical ailments while I hide out and play small and try to make the program more perfect? And that question really hit home.

Why only 10 participants and why you have to register now?

I can only take a limited number of participants because we will go deep and really do the work to help you uncover your true passion and purpose; this is not easy work and I want to take only those who are fully committed to doing the work. It also requires a great deal for me and I am committed as hard to help you as I am requiring you to do, so you have to register as soon as possible to secure a spot immediately as registration closes Monday at 9 am and as class starts on July 12th. Price for this session is at 80% off what my normal rate will be after this.

To kick-start your process of finding work that aligns with your values and to clarify your vision and purpose click on the link below.  But hurry this 80% discount is only available till 9 am Monday, July 9th, 2018 and I will not offer it this low again. Update: I Am Writing A Book #LJ068

This is a picture of what I did with my kitchen pantry recently. Pls. listen to this episode of the podcast to know more about how this action I did can help you with your goals for the rest of the year.

Last year end, I took a course on planning the year. It was a great course and I will most likely be recommending the course to you as soon as it opens again, though its a bit pricey but has been a good investment for me. Better than before, I wrote clear goals for this year.

I will be turning 40 by the end of this year (by God’s grace) I wanted to write a transformational book & bestseller 🙂 This is to give you heads up that I will begin work on my book about now.  I will love for you to keep me in your prayers.

So, thanks a lot for reading or listening today. Don’t forget to leave me a comment below.

If you have not already, join the special prayers at the end of this episode today. And get access to the guide below:

Make It Real by Demi & Dami Sobanjo

Make It Real by Demi & Dami Sobanjo

I am so excited today😁 March 17 (today) is the 1st year anniversary of Like Jesus podcast by Olu Sobanjo. I am so grateful to God for grace and for all He has taught me along the way.

Thanks to you too for your support and help this past one year.

Above all, I am so grateful for my family, they have made this possible. I can’t count the number of times my hubby and boys have asked or reminded me to go do my recording. And shhh! mommy is doing a recording 😁

To celebrate and start a new thing, the boys created their first solo video. Demi composed the song and Damilola helped to edit and we all made it real.

So grateful to God for these boys and my darling hubby; my podcasting crew.

Enjoy!

Btw, they hope to find more time to write on their blogs…Demi’s site is at demisobanjo.com and Dami’s is at damisobanjo.com.

Pay Attention To Healthy Eating Too – Consider Reducing Sugar

dessert photoApparently, sugar is the same whether it comes refined, as white sugar, as maple syrup or as honey. That’s what I recently got some clarity on. I know you must have heard that too.

For people like me (who care about purpose) there is a possibility that you are carried away by the delivery of your message no matter what. Even if it means ignoring some healthy tips. However, I have a question for you today. Have you taken time to really study how your body works and how to feed it properly in order to have that body healthy enough to deliver your message over time?  Don’t feel bad if you have ignored this, I also thought I was doing fine.

Recently I took some time to study what healthy eating really means and how that affects me today. And I was amazed at a number of details I had ignored for so long. You see, I thought I was making the best possible choices in this regard; at least compared to many other women.  For example, I stopped buying soda (coke and the likes), I choose the no sugar added, low sodium and low-fat options when I went grocery shopping. I cook 90% of the food I serve my family.  I didn’t know there was a lot more to it.

Here are some facts that I learned in recent studies:

  • Your body is a complex machine with several vital organs that requires good food to function well.
  • Natural sugar is the same as refined sugar. For example, sugar in an apple has the same effect as sugar in coke.
  • The effect of sugar on your liver is similar (if not worse) compared to that of alcohol on your liver.

If your message and purpose are important to you, you must also pay attention to doing all that lies within your power to maintain the body that will deliver that message. Ignorance is not an excuse to wreck your body.

I know you may be thinking “I really don’t know who to believe”. Researchers say eggs are bad for you, another set contradicts that by saying “no eggs are good, it’s dairy that is bad”. The facts keep changing every day and we are not sure who to believe. Well, I am like you too dear. However, we cant ignore what makes sense because we are not sure. As for me, I won’t continue to ignore the truth. Not anymore.

My Resolutions Going Forward:

1. Remove processed food completely from our meals– easier for my husband and I. I will gradually do the same for the children.

2. Completly remove refined sugar. Substitute with real fruits in every meal. I wonder what banana would taste like inside my gari or Pap 😉

3. Gradually remove and regulate natural sugar (maple syrup, honey, even fruits) intake.

So help me God!

Trust me you won’t want to consume refined sugar after watching the video I saw.

The point is to change your lifestyle completely. People talk about having more energy after making these changes and feeling great. Well, I hadn’t paid attention because I didn’t think I was lacking energy. My aim is not to become a fanatic, I just want to make the right choices for my family. That’s all and you can do the same. I don’t want to remove all the fun from my life, so I may still have something once in a long while, but you never know.  I may just find a fun way to cut off completely and I am open to that too. Slow and steady for the most part. This is a long-term goal and so I am in it for the long haul. And I want to suggest that you consider gradually removing processed sugar from your meals as well.

You Can Do It Too! Start Here:

  • Revome sugar, sweetener, honey, maple syrup consumption (at least know that even the natural ones are not the best for you)
  • Take out store-bought processed meals from your daily meals: cookies, cakes, bread, muffins…
  • Then eliminate the processed food that you cook like pasta, noodles, canned goods…
  • Add superfoods to your grocery list and find ways to add them to your meals, things like almonds, avocado, blueberries, salmon, kale…
  • And of course, exercise for about 10-15 minutes daily.

The truth is that if you are sick or if your family member is unwell, it will be harder to live a life of purpose, so it may be a good thing to pay attention to it now, especially if you are the one responsible for making grocery choices at home.

God help us all!

Question: What other healthy eating choices have you made recently? Leave a comment below:

Will You Also Take Some Time Off? One Month Blogging Break

Hello dear, I hope you are enjoying your summer months and the weather wherever you are.

Let me take this opportunity to say a big thank you for your consistent readership here on Olusobanjo and for listening to Like Jesus Podcast. It’s such a blessing to know that what I do here is blessing you. Thanks!!

For the last few days, I haven’t been able to put my thoughts together. I think I am near the limit of my abilities to combine so much and still do a good job. I have my hands full right now; with church programs, more travels, family time as well as preparations for back to school. I continue to trust God for grace every day.

Take Some Time OffAnd as I finish this post here in my Hotel room (with the boys fast asleep), I have come to a conclusion that I may not be able to blog, as usual in the following days. That’s why I have decided to take some time off my consistent blogging activities. I may be able to do a few post here and there, but no promises😊

I will be back by Gods grace on the 20th of September. Some things to look forward to on OluSobanjo: How God’s plans affect your purpose,  how to Know God’s plan for you, identifying your limits & how to trust God to get rid of them, living life with God’s view and more. By God’s grace, I am praying that you will start 2018 right and begin (or continue) to live the life God designed for you.

In the meantime, I want to reemphasize this truth that God needs to open your eyes in order to see His plans for you. I pray that He will.

And so back to my question; Will You Also Take Some Time Off?

“You shouldn’t feel guilty about taking time for yourself. Every so often, everyone needs to give themselves a big ol’ bear hug and treat themselves to some TLC” – Sean Covey

What about you? Are you planning to take some time off any of your activities in order to increase the quality at others? Leave me a comment below. I promise to respond.

Pst Ade-That Your Joy May Be Full

joy photoWordFest Day 3. In this message Pastor, Ade wraps up the message by showing the difference between the old life and the new one in Christ.

The new life is eternal life, it’s can’t be thought, neither can it be forced. You need to know God and His life will grow in you. All of Him and less of you.
